This training has been designed to support people who are planning to work within their organisations and communities as Be Well Champions to support good mental health and wellbeing. The training has been developed in collaboration with community leaders by the Mental Health Promotion Team at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and is a part of the South London Listens programme.
There are two modules to Part 1 of this training and you need to attend both. Please complete Module 1 first.
Module 2 will focus on understanding the role of active listening, signposting and safeguarding. We will also explore your next steps as a Be Well mental health champions.
We plan for this to be an interactive and enjoyable experience - in a safe learning environment. We will be giving you information and allowing you to practice skills to listen, engage, and support improvements in mental health.
Your session will be led by Debbie Dixon, a trainer who has worked for 23 years in mental health - she is copied into this email. She will work with you to gain a greater understanding of how a mental health champion can positively influence wellbeing within your communities. And she will coach you through real life examples, as well as exploring how you can build your skills for your ongoing and planned work.
Working with leaders in organisations to develops safe spaces for local people to turn to when they feel their mental health is low or simply to feel more connected with their local community. Find out more about our Be Well Programme.
Part 1 of the training supports Champions to gain an over-view of the Be Well Programme, understand the mental health continuum, and how to support both your own wellbeing and that of your community.
Part 2 of the over-all training will be provided by Citizens UK on community organising, enabling you to take action on important issues effecting your community, and take part in South London Listens campaigns.
